报告内容：

The information science research has new characteristics in the context of data science and big data, including the combining of traditional research methods with data analytics, or examining research data from multiple angles.  I am going to present four projects conducted in the Intelligent Information Access Lab at the University of North Texas: Multilingual Information Access for Metadata Records (MLIA), Precision Medicine Information Retrieval (PMIR), An Analysis of Funded Smart and Connected Health Projects, and Library Information Discovery Service for Decision Making. I will present the background, problem statement, research methods, research findings if applicable and lesson learned for each project. Also, I will introduce the academic programs and research activities in the Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas. Possible collaborations between UNT Information Science and Xi Dian will be discussed.

陈江萍(Jiangping.Chen@unt.edu: http://coolt.lis.unt.edu/)博士是美国北德克萨斯大学(University of North Texas)信息学院教授。她在武汉大学科技情报学专业获得学士学位，在中科院文献情报中心获得情报学硕士学位，在美国雪城大学(Syracuse University)信息学院获得博士学位。研究领域包括数据科学、信息检索、自然语言处理、数字图书馆以及信息系统的设计与评价。发表英文专著一部，各类中英文期刊，图书章节和国际顶级会议论文五十余篇。她的研究获得总额超过一百万美元的美国联邦政府支助。陈博士是英国出版商Emerald Publishing旗下《The Electronic Library》杂志主编和《Information Discovery and Delivery》编委。她教授博士生研究方法、数字图书馆、信息体系结构和数据库系统课程。
